Programme Overview

Highfield is Irelands newest and fastest growing indigenous veterinary group with clinics across Leinster with views for expansion across Ireland. At Highfield we have created a supportive and collaborative environment to help mould and shape the next generation of veterinary professionals. The Highfield Professional Academy currently offers multiple courses which will help you advance in your chosen career.

Mixed Animal Programme

Programme Aim
The aim of the course is to build on each graduate’s existing skill set and develop their knowledge, skills and ability to deal with a clinical routine of varied case studies, including but not limited to routine health visits, vaccinations, orthopaedics, herd health disease problems, and focussing not only on animal health but also on meeting producer objectives.

This programme allows graduates the time to explore the different areas of veterinary services and become a ‘jack of all trades’.

Programme Breakdown
Block 1 – Large Animal Clinic
Block 2 – Small Animal Clinic
Block 3 – Pig & Poultry
Block 4 – Heard Health

Each rotation will last for two weeks and repeat every eight weeks. This allows regular and early exposure to all areas. This is flexible and and can be customised to suit individual preferences.

Small Animal Programme

Programme Aim

The Small Animal Programme has been designed to build on the knowledge and skills learnt at university and provide recent graduates with the necessary support to allow them to develop as small animal clinicians.

Across the busy 12 month period, new graduates work as full members of our veterinary team at the forefront of pet practice as well receiving tailored 1-to-1 mentoring and a course of more formal CPD sessions.

Block 1 – Main Hub (Naas)
Block 2 – Branch Practice
Block 3 – Emergency & CC
Block 4 – Referral

Each block is a duration of 2-4 weeks and has dedicated goals to encourage development of skills across all areas, such as diagnostics, surgery and critical care.

In addition to the guest lecture series, you will be supported daily by the team at Highfield in all aspects of the veterinary world, from pre and post surgery care, to engaging with customers and our vendors who together make Highfield the veterinary group that puts patient care at the heart of everything we do. We will support additional CPD endeavours to help you develop and progress in your career as a veterinary professional.
